Zero-hour contracts still not good enough

The Government is planning to introduce new measures to prevent unfair employment and protect vulnerable workers.

But unions say the move won't put a stop on zero-hour contracts and doesn't go far enough.

It comes as Unite Union holds negotiations with SkyCity over workers' hours.

Unite Union senior organiser Joe Carolan joined Paul Henry this morning.

"There’s a proviso there that you have to give someone a number when they sign a contract, but what is that number? Out in the real world we have got come banding systems. The problem is workers don’t have enough hours to pay their rent."
