MediaWorks has assured staff that there are no plans to replace 3 News presenters Mike McRoberts and Hilary Barry.
Confusion was caused this morning after a New Zealand Herald story suggested their days could be numbered.
The story, based on an interview with MediaWorks Group head of news Mark Jennings, ran with a headline "Future uncertain for TV3 hosts", accompanied by a large photo of McRoberts and Barry.
It discussed the upcoming revamp of the 6pm bulletin, which Mr Jennings says will focus on style and content.
However when asked by the paper, he said he could not rule out presenter changes as a possibility.
Mr Jennings has since issued a statement to clarify his comments.
"I want to stress that there has been no thought given to replacing Mike and Hilary by me or anybody else in the company."
He says he had been trying to answer the Herald's question honestly, to convey "that the media landscape is changing at a frightening speed and it is very difficult to rule things in or out".
