If you've ever swiped fruit with Sid the Sloth or fought Black Dahlia, then you'll know that phone apps and computer games are big, big business.

New Zealand's gaming industry, not unlike our film industry, is home to a bunch of overachievers, making some of the world's most popular games. But unlike the film industry, it goes largely unheralded.

It's worth nearly $80 million a year, but growth has slowed.

So what's going on and why's the industry getting so fed up?
