The countdown is on for the launch of a new domestic airline.

Kiwi Regional Airlines (KRA) will begin flying between Dunedin and Queenstown in one month's time.

It will also offer return flights between Dunedin and Nelson, and Nelson and Hamilton.

The company's chief executive Ewan Wilson says it is exciting to start.

"We've been really blessed with some really talented staff," he told the Paul Henry programme today. "We've got a great aircraft in the form of the Saab, we're very confident that we can run a safe, reliable air service."
