The term 'uterus tax' is used to describe how much more women pay, and how much less often they get paid, because they're women.

Saturday is Suffrage Day, a chance for everyone to celebrate woman getting the vote.

But do women really have equal pay rights?

The Ministry of Women’s Affairs has calculated that for every dollar a man earns in New Zealand a woman will earn nine cents less for the same job.

And when it comes to other areas of gender equality, it seems like New Zealand may not be leading here either.

A new survey asked 250 professional women whether they feel they're treated equally in the workplace.

Over half of those surveyed said they felt men were treated more favourably.
