It is well known that North Korea doesn't take kindly to outside interference.

So when Korean-American writer Suki Kim decided to pose as an English teacher in the isolated state, she knew she was risking execution if caught.

Kim took the gamble because she wanted to write about the real North Korea – a country where propaganda is rife, and punishment is cruel.
