This annual competition by Forest and Bird means a lot to Newsworthy's David Farrier, because he love birds and think we all need to appreciate them.
He wanted to do a whole big thing about it, but reporter Jesse Peach beat him to it.
And what better place to search for Bird of the Year than at Zealandia, a bird sanctuary in Wellington?
