Out of NZ and into Whangamomona

Whangamomona is the small town in New Zealand which refuses to acknowledge John Key as the country's elected leader and the Queen as Head of State, having declared itself a republic in 1989.

It's located on the Forgotten World Highway, 65 kilometres north east of Stratford.

For some it's a paradise and since becoming a republic, they have always elected their own president. But their latest president recently passed away.
