Almost 2500 jobs were created in New Zealand's technology sector in the last year.

The TIN100 report surveys New Zealand's 100 largest high tech businesses and the 100 fastest-growing high tech companies.

The firms generated almost $9 billion in revenue, up 7.3 percent from a year ago.

The sector employs 37,000 people, with 2410 of the jobs created in the last year. The bulk of the jobs – 1408 – were created in Auckland. Six-hundred jobs were created in Wellington and 298 in the South Island.

The sector generated $6.5 billion in exports.

Meanwhile, the annual DHL Export Barometer survey has found confidence is increasing among exporters.

Sixty-five percent of the firms surveyed think their orders will increase in the next year.

The New Zealand dollar is a challenge, but exporters hope to overcome that by entering new markets and developing new products. Newer exporters are the most confident.
