Auckland teacher Dave Williams wants to be the first person in the world to run from the sea to the summit of the highest mountain on each of the seven continents.
Sometimes the nearest coastline is the same distance as 10 marathons from the base of the mountain, but that hasn't stopped Mr Williams from ticking off three of the seven summits.
But Mt Aconcagua in South America has beaten him twice, forcing him to turn back just a few hundred metres from the summit.
Undeterred, Mr Williams plans to make it third time lucky and is going to attempt it again in January, this time with the help of his mate Mike Boston.
