Auckland's sailed into the number three spot for the most liveable city in the world, for the third year in a row.

The Mercer Quality of Living survey ranked the city behind Vienna and Zurich, giving it the top spot in the Southern Hemisphere.

Mayor Len Brown says that's no surprise.

“We’re growing at around 25,000 people per annum... People are investing a lot of internal and overseas money in here at the moment. We're increasing our economy by about 30,000 jobs per annum and the natural environment speaks volumes for itself.”

Mr Brown says the ranking is the reason why more than 800 people a week move to the city.

Reacting to the news, Paul Henry gives us his take on the cities on the list.
