Bernie backs Hillary, Helen answers UN Q&A

Defeated Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has thrown his support behind Hillary Clinton's bid for the White House.

He says Clinton is "by far and away the best candidate", but neither side has indicated how much involvement he'll actually have in her campaign.

And our former Prime Minister Helen Clark gets another chance to stake her claim for the UN's top job this morning.

She will take questions live on TV in her bid to become the next UN Secretary-General.

Ms Clark will be one of 10 candidates taking part in an hour-long discussion and question-and-answer session about the challenges and opportunities facing the global organisation.

There are 12 in the running for the job.

US correspondent Nick Harper's in New York and joined Mark Sainsbury, filling in for Paul Henry.
