BYO ban for Rhythm & Vines

Rhythm and Vines festival, held near Gisborne every New Years Eve, is changing its tune for this year's event.

An expected crowd of 14,000 has been told they're not allowed to bring their own alcohol like previous years.

With previous events featuring riots and alcohol fuelled carnage, organisers have decided beers, youth and camping grounds just don't mix.

So, will there be licensed premises? Or would officials rather the event actually be completely alcohol free event?

The Mayor of Gisborne Meng Foon joined Ali Mau, filling in for Paul Henry.
