Turnbull delays decision on Rudd's UN bid

Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said he's going to call Kevin Rudd to let him know whether the government would back his bid to become UN Secretary-General.

His nomination was discussed in a cabinet meeting last night.

However, our Prime Minister John Key says Helen Clark is the stronger candidate of the two, and Rudd's bid "won't change a lot".

Ms Clark has the New Zealand Government's backing, but it's believed she's lost some momentum from the first straw poll.
