Hawke's Bay faces week without power

Communities and farmers in Hawke's Bay are facing a week without power after heavy snow hit the region.

Contractors are working in freezing conditions to restore electricity to hundreds of customers along the hills between Napier and Taupo.

The Napier-Taupo Highway remains closed Tuesday morning.

Hawke's Bay Civil Defence Emergency Management Group controller Ian Macdonald spoke to Paul Henry about the conditions this morning.
