New Zealand has jumped to 14th on the Olympic medal table after key successes on the water and on the track over the weekend.

There's plenty of optimism that we will add to our two golds and six silvers in the coming days, with many more Kiwi athletes yet to compete for a place on the podium.

Olympics fans will also be waiting in anticipation to watch the fastest man in the world, Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt, attempt to win his third consecutive Olympic 100m title.

Rio Olympics reporter Michelle Pickles spoke to Paul this morning to discuss the day's action.
