Twenty years ago a young girl from Hornby, Christchurch, sent a demo tape to Sony Music; they liked what they heard and signed her up straight away.
That song was Drive, the girl was Bic Runga and two decades later she's made the New Zealand Music Hall of fame.
She will receive the Legacy Award at the 51st Vodafone NZ Music Awards ceremony on November 17, which will be broadcast on TV3.
She joined Paul Henry this morning.
