The Rodger Fox Big Band has received an invitation to perform at the 60th Monterey Jazz Festival in California next month.
But first, they've got to get there. Receiving no Government funding, the band have been fundraising get the trip off the ground.
And Rodger Fox is also trying to get the Government to fund a full-time jazz group, just like the NZSO.
The Kiwi jazz legend joined The AM Show on Friday.
