'Voiceless' survivor opens up about brutal attack

WARNING: This story contains graphic content.

In 2009 mental health nurse "Sarah" was violently attacked by a patient she was visiting in a community care facility.

During the assault that lasted thirty minutes Sarah was bashed, stabbed and doused in boiling water by her attacker.

The man was initially charged with attempted murder but was later found not guilty by reason of insanity.

It was a verdict Sarah believes failed to adequately acknowledge the serious mental and physical scars she was left with from the attack.
