Jerome Kaino sick of being a spectator

Despite the positive result, Blues captain Jerome Kaino admits it was tough watching his side beat the Highlanders while he served a one-game suspension.

The team looked in high spirits at today's media session, although Kaino knows that it's just one small step towards redemption for what has been an underachieving franchise.

"One game doesn't make a season; we've got to keep our feet on the ground. Once we get comfortable with one win, that's when we could fall over the next week," Kaino said.

Kaino is aware he can't get comfortable with a pack of talented young loosies fighting for jerseys, although the veteran says it helps keep him stay sharp.

"I think I'm the only one in the squad, having these youngsters around is good for me, it adds something to my game seeing them play."

One advantage of the unplanned week off was Kaino had plenty of time to study Friday's opponents the Crusaders who Kaino says, despite their loss to the Chiefs, are a typically well-drilled outfit.
