Warriors wing pairing on the rise

It's probably the toughest road trip going around right now in the NRL, so no wonder Warriors coach Andrew McFadden wasn't exactly bursting with confidence ahead of his side's clash with the top of the table Sharks.

"I'm not really sure what the result will be, this game will present new challenges and obviously it's going to be a tough place to go and play," said McFadden.

"As long as we keep building on our performances, that's what I'm looking for."

Maybe it's youthful exuberance, but wing David Fusitu'a offered a more positive take.

"We're really going to try and put our stamp down as a team to look out for," said the 21-year-old.

And no wonder Fusitua's upbeat, he's dotted down for six tries in his last three appearances, his corner flag finishes becoming something of a trademark.

"I guess it's good just to have good players inside me, I've been a bit lucky being on Shaun's side every time I've scored a try."

Fusitua's not the only 21-year-old lurking on the wing for the Warriors.

Ken Maumolo was strongly linked to a mid-season move to the Dragons but's he's glad he stuck around, an injury to Manu Vatuvei bringing him back into first grade for the win over the Knights.

"I always go to him for video and stuff, to help me out what I need to work on," said Maumalo.

"I guess that's the leadership he shows, he's a great mentor."

Despite getting sin-binned early, Maumolo was able to provide some Manu-esque metres.

"Those sort of carries get us on the front foot, and when we're on the front foot it's difficult to contain us," noted McFadden.

Shaun Jonson's quad strain is on the mend, unlike last week he was able to train with the team today.
