An emotional Niall Williams said the shock of her brother's injury took a funny twist as Sonny's ambulance driver couldn't find the hospital.

Williams, who won silver with the women's sevens side, felt for her brother and all the sacrifices he made to get to Rio.

"It's quite emotional, I feel for him because we've both been on this journey together," said Williams on her brother's Achilles rupture, which is set to keep him out for six to nine months.

"I know the sacrifices, the hard work and tears that have been put into getting to this point in time.

"He's pretty tough, he'll get through it, and come back bigger and stronger, but I'm just a little bit gutted for him at the moment."

Niall talked to her brother after the injury, revealing his ambulance took the scenic route to the hospital.

"He actually told me that the ambulance driver got lost, so that was a bit funny and took the edge off of it.

"He's not feeling sorry for himself - he's still an Olympian - so he can be proud of that."
