The new look Silver Ferns' have lost one of their most experienced players just three days out from the Quad Series opener against England.

Defender Anna Harrison suffered a left calf injury during yesterday's training.

But that's not the case for fellow defender Anna Harrison, who injured her calf during yesterday's training

It robs the side of a 79 test veteran.

Still, spirits remain high thanks to a former netballer and Olympic bronze medalist Eliza McCartney, who's feats at the Rio Olympics are being used as motivation by the Silver Ferns.

"If you look at what she did and how she just really enjoyed herself," said Silver Ferns captain Katrina Grant.

While the Silver Ferns are welcoming new faces for the quad series, a familiar face is back.

Former Australia coach Norma Plummer is now the coach for South Africa, thirteen years after she referred to the New Zealand players as scrubbers, which made waves on both sides of the Tasman.

Today she's working to scrub up South Africa, who are currently ranked fifth in the world.
