New Zealand's most successful Olympic team arrived home today - knowing that their Rio success means even higher expectations for 2020.

Already two-time champion Mahe Drysdale has told Newshub that he is a 50-50 chance of going for a third gold medal in Tokyo.

But our other repeat defenders are trying to avoid any talk of Toyko.

While Eric Murray and Hamish Bond are decisive on the water, they won't be making a decision on Tokyo any time soon.

"I said after London that Rio seemed a really long way away, at this point Tokyo may as well be on the moon," said Bond.

"Four more years is hard to get your head around. In saying that, I don't think I'm done with the sport."

Sailing was one of our most succesful sports in Rio, but gold medallists Peter Burling and Blair Tuke already have their focus on a bigger boat.

The 49er pair will first look to help Team New Zealand bring back the America's Cup, but they haven't ruled out backing up for another Olympic campaign.
