The infamous streaker snapped at a recent Taranaki rugby game is on the hunt for people to help pay off his fine and his mates reckon they've managed to reel in a donation from Marc Ellis

Charl Jacobs was slapped with a two-year ban from the Yarrow stadium and a $1,000 fine for stripping down to his socks, and running the length of the field at Sunday's game between Taranaki and Tasman.

His friends have set up a Givealittle page in his honour, hoping to raise funds to pay off the fine and donate any excess money to Movember.

The group claims Marc Ellis kicked it off with a $100 donation.

A friend of Mr Jacobs told Newshub "banter" between friends was the core reason for the streak, and they all want to get on board and help pay the fine.

"[Jacobs will] be the first to say he isn't the proudest of his decision, but at this point it is now about using what has happened and the media coverage as a catalyst to generate awareness for a great cause, Movember."

Marc Ellis said he wouldn't confirm or deny whether or not he donated to the fund, and didn't want to comment.

Mr Jacobs' friend said they contacted Ellis via email because he is one of the people who sees "the funny side" of streaking.

"We understand both sides of the argument. As a massive rugby fan, Charl knows the impact that he had on the game and in no way did he intend to negatively impact anyone's experience watching the game," he said.

"Given the timing of the event and the fact that Charl is your typical Kiwi every man's man, Movember is the perfect cause to support with any funds over top of covering the $1000 fine."

He said Mr Jacobs is extremely sorry for his behaviour at the game - which ended with a dive between the goalpost and his arrest - and he doesn't condone that sort of behaviour.

He says they want to turn the negativity his actions have received in to a positive story for men's health.

"We have realistic expectations for the fund and we only originally anticipated a few mates to get on board and help Charl pay the fine".

The Givealittle page describes Mr Jacobs as an avid sports fan who's "always been up for getting nude and having a little run".
