Kiwi V8 contingent stronger than ever

Kiwi V8 contingent stronger than ever

With five Kiwi's in the Supercar field - this weekend will be the strongest ever New Zealand line-up at Pukekohe.

And for Fabian Coulthard success at home would be more than welcome after what happened in his last outing on the Gold Coast

There wasn't a scratch on Fabian Coulthard after his Surfers Paradise exit - but the way it happened - still smarts.

"In racing it's not if you crash, it's when you crash," said Coulthard.

"But I'd like to crash on my terms - not somebody else's."

He's right. His solo efforts are much more spectacular.

Dusting yourself off and coming back for more is a trait shared by Chris Pither.

A star in his early teens - it took him ten years of hard knocks before signing with Superblack racing.

"It's been a bit of a rollercoaster I guess, it did take a long time to get to this point," admits Pither.

It's not just points at stake at Pukekohe, but the Jason Richards trophy.

"He's got a special place in my heart, he was legend and bit of mentor to me growing up.

"To be able to win that trophy here in my home town would be pretty emotional."

His biggest challenge could come from his future teammate Scott McLaughlin, as the Kiwi tries to move up to third in the championship.
