Australian motorsport legend Craig Lowndes is rooting for Hayden Paddon at Rally Australia.
The six-time Bathurst champion is a self-professed lover of off-road racing and often delves into safari endurance events around Australia.
The Red Bull racing driver visited with Paddon at the service centre after the third stage on Saturday.
Lowndes admitted he was cheering for the young Kiwi flyer.
"It's nice to see him go really well," said Lowndes.
"He seems quite calm and quite confident with the way things went this morning."
Paddon had a great start to Saturday's racing with a win on stage 12 and is in second place overall after 14 of 23 stages.
However a slight hiccup on the stage 15 has seen the New Zealander drop back to third overall.
