Two of the biggest football teams in Argentina and Brazil are set to play in a friendly at the MCG in June 2017.

The South American nations will participate in a blockbuster clash that will bring two of the best players in the world in Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr down under, according to The Australian.

Both Brazil and Argentina duke it out for South American World Cup allocation spots during the four-year cycle between World Cup Finals. But they have also clashed in the SuperClasico de las Americas since its conception in 2011.

Argentina are currently the top-ranked team in the world with Brazil breathing down their neck in second.

While no official announcement has yet been made by the Victorian Government, one of the teams will likely play the Socceroos.

Australia will likely use the friendly to warm up for the 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia, the same tournament the All Whites are competing in.

Brazil and Argentina have played each other 103 times, with Brazil winning 40 to Argentina's 37. There have been 26 draws.
