Aaron Cruden is joining a large number of New Zealanders playing rugby in France.

In signing a three-year deal with Montpellier worth approximately NZ$1.19 million per year, Cruden becomes one of the world's highest-paid rugby players.

The 28-year-old has had a very successful rugby career in New Zealand. Cruden has played 47 games for the All Blacks, and won two Super Rugby titles with the Chiefs in 2012 and 2013.

Cruden started in the 2011 Rugby World Cup final against France, but went off injured with a knee injury. Cruden then missed the 2015 World Cup with an ACL injury.

By going to France, Cruden also joins many former All Blacks plying their trade in the Top 14 competition as well as some of New Zealand's finest talent not to don the black jersey.
