Highlights: Golden State Warriors outclass Oklahoma City Thunder in entertaining encounter

Former Thunder star Kevin Durant has slaughtered his old team, scoring a season high 40 points, as the Golden State Warriors beat Oklahoma City 121-100 at Oracle Arena.

It was Durant's best performance of the season, shooting 13-16 and pulling down 12 rebounds.

Stephen Curry added 24 points and eight assists while Klay Thompson scored 14.

Tonight was the 29th game this season the Warriors have finished a game with more than 30 assists.

Thunder guard Russell Westbrook claimed his 21st triple double of the season as he tried to carry the Thunder.  Westbrook finished with 28 points, 15 rebounds and 13 assists.

Westbrook shot eight for 23 this time and missed all but one of his six 3-point tries, but made 10 of 11 free throws.

Enes Kanter and Victor Olapido contributed 22 and 20 points respectively for the Thunder.

The Thunder missed Kiwi centre Steven Adams for the second game due to a concussion and his presence on the floor was clearly missed with the Warriors winning the rebound battle and physical battle.

The Thunder will be hoping Adams will be ready to go for their next match against the Utah jazz on Tuesday (NZ Time).

It was a close battle during the first half, with the scores locked up at 56-56 at the break, but the Warriors pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring the hapless Thunder 37-22.

The two Western Conference rivals next face on February 11 in Oklahoma (Local time).
