New Zealand Rugby League honoured its best and fairest at their annual prize giving in Auckland last night.

Raiders flyer Jordan Rapana was named Kiwi Rookie of the Year, while skipper Jesse Bromwich picked up Player of the Year for the second consecutive occasion.

"Being the captain for my country, for my family and I, is massive and something I only dreamed of doing," said the Melbourne Storm front-rower.

Rapana breakthrough season with the resurgent Canberra Raiders continued over to the international stage, and the 27-year-old was quick to deflect the plaudits.

"I'm over the moon and honoured to be nominated alongside Joseph Tapine and Solomone Kata," said Rapana.

"I've got to thank the coaching staff and selectors for supporting me and of course the boys who have made my job a lot easier."

Warriors coach Stephen Kearney received a special award for taking the Kiwis to the top of the world in 2008, and two victories at the Four Nations.

Kiwi Ferns Captain Sarina Fiso took out the Women’s Player of the Year accolades for the third time.
