The Williams sisters in the final, it may or may not have been the match most people wanted, but it is one for the ages.

There are masses of stats to use for this showdown, but for our purposes it should be noted that Serena Williams leads her older sister, Venus 16 matches to 11 in head-to-head meetings.

They haven’t played each other since 2015 in the US Open quarter-finals.

Serena hasn’t dropped a set all tournament and has been in commanding form.

Venus has only let one set go and has also looked rock solid, although a couple of her matches have seen her pushed.

However Serena is generally regarded as the better player and when they clash she usually gains the victory.

It will also come down to which player really wants to beat their sister and doesn’t consider their opponent as a close family member.

Again Serena is probably the better player when it comes to the rithless side of family matters.

Venus is worth a set perhaps, but anything other than a Serena win would be considered a small upset.
