Video: Joseph Parker joins Warriors Auckland Nines squad

World champion boxer Joseph Parker will be filling the shoes of Reuben Wiki during the NRL Auckland Nines by being the Warriors official water boy during the two day event.

Parker surprised players by showing up to training yesterday to wish the Warriors good luck for the event, and was then offered the role.

"I wanted to come out to see the boys, see how they're preparing for the Nines and just to catch up with them. I always support the Warriors," said Parker.

"I want to be there at the Nines to help them and to cheer them on. If the offer's there to be the water boy, I will definitely take that on."

Parker was thankful for the Warriors players who gave him support duing his road to the title and wanted to repay the favour.

"Before the (title) fight last year they (Vodafone Warriors players) were there to wish me luck and I'd like to do the same for them," said Parker.

"Lots of the boys have been there for me. Manu (Vatuvei) has been one of my closest friends from the start and there's Shaun (Johnson), Roger (Tuivasa-Sheck), Issac (Luke) and a few more. It's good to see them working hard and it inspires me to do the same."

Reuben Wiki is usually the Warriors water boy but yesterday it was announced he would be playing in the team.

The Warriors are expected to name their final squad for the Nines later in the month.
