Fury's promoter Frank Warren in the dark on Joseph Parker fight venue

Boxing promoter Frank Warren is still none the wiser as to where his fighter Hughie Fury's challenge to Kiwi Joseph Parker's WBO heavyweight title will take place.

Parker's promoters Duco secured the rights to the fight with a purse bid of US$3 million (NZ$4.1 million), which superceded Warrens' effort by US$200,000 (NZ$277,777).

"Yes I was a bit disappointed to lose that, but we only had 40 percent of the purse bid to play with and they had 60, and the champion," said Warren.

"We got him into the position where he become the mandatory challenger and most purse bids are 80/20 or 75/25 and we got 60/40 split for him so he’s done really well out of it."

However, while initial talks suggested an event in Auckland, company brass has since hinted that they are also entertaining offers from other locations, including Singapore and Fury's hometown of Manchester.

Either way, Warren believes his fighter has an excellent chance of dethroning Parker with the 22-year-old making every use of the plentiful resources surrounding him, including his troubled former heavyweight champion cousin, Tyson Fury.

"I don’t know where it’s going to be but wherever it is, I think Hughie [Fury] has a great chance, wherever the fight takes place," said Warren.

"Hughie’s a good fighter. He’s had great preparation since he was the world junior amateur champion.

"He’s had great schooling working all the time with Tyson [Fury] who has obviously become world champion - sparring with him, working with him, and also working with the sparring opponents that Tyson’s had."

Although, there is one area where Warren sees the South Aucklander holding a clear advantage over the rangey Brit.

"The only thing he’ll have against him is a little bit of inexperience as such, but having said that I think when he goes into that fight it’s a 50/50 fight."
