Highlights: Leicester City start life without Claudio Ranieri with win over Liverpool

Leicester City have ended a tumultuous week with a much-needed 3-1 win over top six side Liverpool at King Power Stadium.

Sending a strong message to the critics of the team who said it was player power that led to the end of the Claudio Ranieri tenure as manager, the Foxes turned back the clock to last season with their countering play causing havoc for Liverpool at the back.

Vardy finally opened his 2017 account with a well taken goal in the 28th minute before Danny Drinkwater scored a goal of the year contender with a volley from well outside the box to send Leicester into the sheds 2-0 up.

The night then looked all-but over in the second half when Vardy latched onto a cross, placing it to the left of goal-keeper Simon Mignolet.

Eight minutes later, Liverpool scored through Philippe Coutinho to make the final 22 minutes interesting. However a comeback never looked too likely with the visitors' main strike weapons Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane all looking out of sorts for most of the evening.

The win sees Leicester climb into 15th on the ladder two points above the drop zone. Meanwhile, Liverpool lose ground on the top four and could be overtaken by Manchester United who have a game in hand.
