Seta Tamanivalu embracing positional change at Crusaders

Not only is All Blacks back Seta Temanivalu adjusting to life as a Crusader, he's also learning the ropes in a new position.

The three-Test international midfielder is set to start the Super Rugby season on the wing for his new franchise after making the shift south from the Chiefs at the end of last season.

Coach Scott Robertson's likely to hand Jack Goodhue the number 13 jersey, forcing Tamanivalu out of his preferred spot.

However, it's not a role he's completely unfamiliar with.

"In Taranaki club games I've been playing on the wing sometimes," said the 24-year-old.

"It's pretty tough at the moment because I'm still learning about the positioning, but I'll get there."

It's a challenge the Fijian-born back is embracing, as he is his new environment.

"I just wanted to try something different," he said of his move to the Crusaders.

"I stayed at the Chiefs for three years, I didn't want to get too comfortable around the boys."

The Crusaders host the Brumbies in their opening game on Saturday, with the new season begins on Thursday night in Melbourne with the Blues taking on the Rebels.
