Single and ready to mingle at the NRL Nines

Warning: The video above includes expletives from members of the crowd.

Dressed to impress at the NRL Auckland Nines, the singles came out in full force with their own dedicated zone.

And as Newshub reporters Erin Speedy and Henry Rounce found out first-hand, it's supposed to be a placed filled with sexy singles bonding over their love for league.

But instead there was less bonding, more booze, and a ratio of around three lads to every lass.

Filled might also be a bit overstated - the zone also had families, kids and a lot of people who were unaware it was a zone dedicated to those looking for a mate.

Jamie Robinson, Louise Lachlan and May Church - all dressed as Super Women - weren't impressed with the talent.

Ms Church says she's looking for a man who's funny, athletic, and preferably a Nines player.

"Play hard to get, you know you've got to make them come to you," she said.

Meanwhile, man on the prowl Blair Ferguson was hoping to reel some women in by giving them "free hugs".

"I've had heaps of luck, but I need a bit more," he said.

His friend Reweti Davies said they went to the zone "to get drunk and enjoy life".

"We're young and single," he said. "[We] won't be angry if we don't get any girls at the end of the day, we're just enjoying ourselves."
