Video: Honest Floyd Mayweather puts weight behind Conor McGregor fight

Floyd Mayweather has continued to fuel speculation of a fight against UFC star Conor McGregor, imploring the McGregor camp to get their act together to make the fight happen.

McGregor obtained a Californian professional boxing license back in October with his eye set on a match-up against the retired Mayweather, who finished his professional boxing career with an unblemished record of 49 wins and zero losses.

"They keep throwing the Conor McGregor name out there," an unusually honest Mayweather told Showtime.

"Like I said before I am here so let's make it happen."

Mayweather has seemed to go back and forwards on the fight happening, suggesting last month that the numbers weren't initially there.

However in his latest interview, the 40-year-old said that it had the makings of a great fight and that the ball was in McGregor's court.

"My team - us - my number is there. He has to get his thing in order with his team, once Conor McGregor talks to the UFC and his bosses and then we can make it happen.

"We have got Showtime, PPV, Mayweather promotions which is the past and present of sports entertainment, let's make the fight happen - let's get the fans what they want to see. There is only one fight that is important - that is Mayweather against Conor McGregor."

When asked about how he thought McGregor would go in the square ring instead of the octagon, Mayweather surprised with his response.

"Every time Conor McGregor goes out there to compete and wins he does it standing up, when he lost he did it on the ground, not standing up, so he is a hell of a fighter and tough competitor and has a will to win and the UFC gloves are not difference to boxing gloves, they are just a little bit smaller, but if the guy has power then he has power and Conor McGregor has power."
