Dominic Bird and Michael Allardice re-sign for the Chiefs

The Chiefs side has received a boost after losing three big stars in as many months with locks Dominic Bird and Michael Allardice committing to the side.

Aaron Cruden, James Lowe and Tawera Kerr-Barlow all announced that they would be leaving New Zealand at the end of the season with coach Dave Rennie also heading north.

Two-test All Black Bird made the move up to the Chiefs last season and has formed a formidable partnership with Brodie Retallick. Meanwhile Allardice, who's staple position is lock but has played in the backrow, has remained on the fringes of the side with injuries seeing him miss a lot of 2016.

Bird had reportedly been tabled a number of overseas offers but committed to side until the end of the 18 season with Allardice re-signing until 2019.
