Highlights: Blackcaps v South Africa - Proteas fight back after early wickets

  • 26/03/2017

The Blackcaps have put the heat on the Proteas but failed to make the knockout blow in an even first session of the second day in Hamilton with South Africa on 243-7 at lunch.

Quinton De Kock (66) and Keshav Maharaj (5) will look to take South Africa nearer to 300 after Matt Henry took two wickets and Mitchell Santner removed the key wicket of Faf du Plessis with a stunning catch by Tom Latham down the leg side.

With du Plessis Shaping to play the sweep shot, Tom Latham move to his right in anticipation of the ball and brilliantly latched onto the ball with his non-favoured right hand, stunning everyone in the ground including du Plessis and the square-leg umpire.

While the first hour was New Zealand's, the second hour was definitely South Africa's with De Kock freeing his arms and hitting a fiery Neil Wagner for a number of boundaries.
