Video: David Haye upset by underdog Brit Tony Bellew

British power-puncher Bellew produced a stunning performance to upset former heavyweight champion Haye, forcing his corner to throw in the towel early in the contest's penultimate round.

In an absolute classic, the Englishmen went blow-for-blow throughout the first five-rounds, with the bookies' favourite, Haye, slightly edging the crowd favourite, Bellew.

However an achilles injury for the 36-year-old Haye, turned the fight on its head with two-minutes left on the clock in round six.

Haye struggled to even stand in the final stages of the round but managed to survive a brutal onslaught of punches to make it back to his corner.

Haye showed incredible heart in fighting through clear pain and discomfort over the course of the next 12 minutes and even landed a couple big blows in-between the constant output from Bellew.

However the fight came to an end a minute into round 11 as Haye's legs gave way for the final time and his corner threw in the towel.

A win for Haye would have put him in position to fight the winner of Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko, but that now seems unlikely with such a devastating loss against a big underdog.

Bellew jumped up to heavyweight for the fight, but will likely defend his WBC cruiserweight title in his next fight.

Both fighters embraced at the end of the bout and agreed that a rematch is on the cards.
