Video: South Africa continues to prove credentials as best travelling side in Test cricket

Regardless of the result against the Blackcaps in the third Test beginning Saturday in Hamilton, South Africa have will leave the country with their remarkable record still intact.

The Proteas have only lost one series, against India in 2015, out of their last 10 trips overseas, including a 2-1 win in Australia late last year.

With the dominant victory over New Zealand in Wellington, that trend has continued as the best the home side can achieve is a series draw.

Coach Russell Domingo said the side always travels well because of a great team culture and comfortable environment.

"This side takes a lot of pride in how well we travel," he said.

"The guys connect with each other very well, they enjoy each other's company and they enjoy seeing new countries. I think that is the reason why we travel so well and play good cricket because the guys enjoy being together.

"It's a massive feat for the side to come here and be 1-0 up with one game to play, but we know it's not done yet, New Zealand are a quality side and we will have to play well."

The Blackcaps lost the second Test by eight wickets, inside of three days but have named an unchanged squad for the match in Hamilton.

Despite outside calls for change, Domingo believes there is enough talent in the New Zealand side to pose serious questions of his in-form line-up.

"We have never had a game against New Zealand when we thought that 'we have this, we are on top of them', these sides are so evenly matched and there is so much quality in their side, we know we are going to have a tough challenge on our hands in the next couple of days."

Domingo is also very confident that the Hamilton wicket will provide plenty of opportunity for his much vaunted pace attack of Vernon Philander, Morne Morkel and Kagiso Rabada, regardless of the spin-friendly conditions expected.

"I think reverse swing will come into the game, it looks pretty dry.

"They have played five internationals on the particular square already this summer which is the most ever.

"The wicket should assist reverse swing which we have good exponents of."

New Zealand is expected to name Mitchell Santner and Jeetan Patel in their 11, but rain is forecast for all five scheduled days.
