Warriors player Ben Matulino caught running red light

A Warriors prop has gone from running down a try to running a red light - both in sponsored gear.

Ben Matulino was caught on tape trying to beat a red light on a busy Auckland street in March, driving a RAV4 donated by Auckland City Toyota.

A cyclist recorded the offence on his helmet cam, which was programmed with an incorrect date.

He also raced through the red light, chasing down Matulino to confront him.

"Good luck talking to your boss this morning, for running a red light on camera," the cyclist told Matulino after catching up with him.

But he won't be facing a red card - Auckland City Toyota's chief executive, Anthony Kearns, told Fairfax Media the situation had been "resolved".

"We're very strict on responsible driver behaviour," he said.

"Ben was very forthcoming and was apologetic from the outset."

A police spokesperson confirmed to Newshub police have received a complaint from a member of the public and are "assessing the information" around the incident.
