Former All Black Dan Carter may be in line to face his former team later this year as a member of the Barbarians squad.

The prodigious pivot has been offered a spot in the invitational side for their clash against England at Twickenham on May 28th, according to UK site The Rugby Paper.

That may well see the two-time World Cup winner in line for selection to play against his compatriots when the All Blacks face the Barbarians as part of their annual European tour on November 4th.

Carter earned 112 caps for New Zealand in a Test career which spanned 13 years, and is currently based in Paris where he plays for Racing 92.

His availability for the Baabaas may hinge on the fortunes of his French side as they chase a spot in the Top 14 playoffs, although their current form suggests they will fall well short of that goal.

"We very much hope Dan will be able to accept our invitations," revealed a Barbarian source.

"As with a number of players, acceptance is subject to availability and that depends on what happens in the coming weeks."
