The struggling Mainland Tactix have been dealt another blow with head coach Sue Hawkins resigning from her role as head coach on Monday afternoon.

Hawkins has spent three unsuccessful seasons with the side, who have yet to register a point in the revamped national netball competition and currently sit anchored to the bottom of the ladder.

"I have enjoyed my time with the Tactix and wish them all the best for the rest of the season," said Hawkins in a statement.

"Moving forward as a professional coach, there is a time when you have to step aside in the interest of the team."

Current assistant coach Marianne Delaney-Hoshek will take over for the remainder of the season for the Christchurch-based side, with a recruitment process to be implemented at its conclusion.
