Video: 'We don't care about that stuff' - Shaun Johnson on Kieran Foran saga

The Warriors are not distracted by talks that key playmaker Kieran Foran has signed a multi-year deal with the Canterbury Bulldogs.

Star halfback Shaun Johnson has put the onus back on the speculating media suggesting that the story is becoming stale and repetitive.

Reports out of Australia suggested that Foran will re-join former coach Des Hasler at the Sydney based club in 2018 – Johnson said rumours and innuendo are just that.

"We've known all along what Foz's intentions are. He's made that perfectly clear and he's been honest with everyone, said Johnson.

"I think this is probably a bigger deal to, sorry to blanket it, but you lot, than to us as playing group.

"We have distractions every week. This has been around for a while now but Foz is in a really good place. He's loving being around the boys, loving being at the club, loving playing footy.

"As long as he's doing that with a smile on his face we don't care what's going on in the background."

Former Warriors captain Ryan Hoffman agrees with Johnson, telling reporters that players talking to other clubs during the season is just part of being a professional rugby league player in the NRL.

"There is nothing to say [about Foran] at the moment," said Hoffman.

"We have plenty of blokes off contract talking to other clubs, I’m talking to other clubs so this has been going on as long as rugby league has been going on.

"It's not a distraction. We are professional players and this is the way the game is."

Along with the Foran rumours, plenty have been circling about a potential transfer window at the end of the season, rather than April and May,  something which Ryan Hoffman who is looking for a new club, is open too.

Hoffman liked the suggestion of a four-week transfer window at the end of the season, to avoid mid-year speculation about players' futures.

However the 33-year old did point out it is a very short time-frame to make a decision and then find accommodation, move and find schooling for young children.

"I think it is a good idea but you have to remember four weeks is very short time and a short window to sort out where you are going.

"It isn't the ideal scenario what we have now but I'd really find it very hard to find something that's better."

With all the Foran speculation surrounding the Warriors, Shaun Johnsons’ contract negotiations have fallen under the radar, but the 26-year old revealed he is ‘very close’ to resigning.

"I’ve been in talks with the club for a while now and we are getting close and should be sorted very soon," said Johnson.

"A lot of people have said I should go away and take my game to a new level at another club but it doesn’t make sense for me to do that. I wouldn’t be satisfied with that and hopefully we can agree on some good terms to stay here.

"I’m sure we will have it sorted soon enough."

The Warriors will look to bounce back against the Melbourne Storm on ANZAC day. The last time the Warriors won in Melbourne was in 2014.
