Black Ferns claim Canada Sevens, all but seal World Sevens Series Championships

  • 29/05/2017

The Black Ferns have held on to win the Canada Sevens with a 17-7 victory over the host nation in the final.

Canada looked to cap off a stunning Sevens campaign which saw them register impressive victories over England and Australia on the way to the final.

But it was the Black Ferns that spoiled their party, running in three tries to one in a final where both teams looked out on their feet at the final whistle.

Captain Tyler Nathan-Wong was the difference as the New Zealanders streaked out to a 12-0 lead through some slick back play and some raw pace.

Whilst they could only manage the one try in the second half, the Black Ferns managed to hold their composure in defence when it counted.

If they make it out of the pool stage at the final tournament in Clermont, France, they will claim the Women's World Series.
