Boston Celtics fight back to stun Cleveland Cavaliers in game three of Eastern Conference Finals

The Boston Celtics have stunned the Cleveland Cavaliers in game three of their Eastern Conference Finals series, fighting back from a 21-point deficit to claim a 111-108 victory.

With the series shifting back to Cleveland and star guard Isaiah Thomas ruled out for the remainder of the playoffs, the Celtics were given little chance of being able to pull back a win after a demoralising game two loss.

But with the scores tied on the final possession, guard Avery Bradley sank a three-pointer to leave just 0.01 seconds on the clock and secure an improbable win for the visitors, bringing the series score to 2-1.

Through the first half it seemed as though another blow-out Cavs win may be an inevitability, Kevin Love catching fire from beyond the arc with seven three-pointers to give the hosts a 16-point lead the interval.

Step to the fore Marcus Smart, the hard-nosed Celtics guard setting the table for the unlikely comeback with an enormous second half performance, posting 27 points including seven three-pointers coupled with some critical defensive plays to spearhead his side's win.

All Star guard Kyrie Irving was the pick of the Cavaliers with 29 points, while LeBron James struggled to get into a rhythm with just 11 points to go with six assists.

Game four will take place in Cleveland on Wednesday.
