Eric Murray opens up about retiring from rowing

Double Olympic champion Eric Murray has revealed he couldn't commit himself to another four years of rowing.

The 35-year-old called an end to his historic career last week and spoke to Newshub about his decision.

"I didn't think I was going to be 100 percent committed to it and anyone in elite sport will tell you if you're not 100 percent committed, it's difficult to compete and be the best in the world," he said.

Murray will still be involved in the sport, but in a different way, as he is a sales director of a rowing boat manufacturer.
