Golden State Warriors go up 2-0 in Western Conference Finals

What started out as a series that looked like it was going to be relatively competitive is now looking like it will be a cakewalk with the Golden State Warriors beating the Spurs 136-100 in game two of the Western Conference finals.

The loss of MVP candidate Kawhi Leonard from game one was felt hard as the Spurs found it difficult to score from the opening tip.

When they did eventually get in the paint or in a position to shoot, the Spurs struggled to convert, shooting 37% from the field.

With just one Spurs' player making double digits in Jonathon Simmons (22 points), it was always going to be difficult for the away side.

After the match, colourful Spurs coach Gregg Popovich called out some key players in his side.

"LaMarcus [Aldridge] has got to score for us," Popovich said.

"He can't be timid. He turned down shots... He's got a major responsibility in Game three."

Nothing is to be taken away from the Warriors who not only took advantage of the absence of Leonard but crossed their Ts and dotted the lower case js - with Steph Curry shooting six from nine from beyond the perimeter.

He was backed up by Kevin Durant (16 points) and Patrick McCaw off the bench (18 points).

The series now heads to Texas for games two and three but with Kawhi Leonard in doubt for the third game, it's an extremely long way back against a team that's currently 10-0 in the NBA post season.
